The Therapy Process

How Do You Know If a Therapist Is Right for You?

Radiant Connections Therapy · Educational article

Understanding the concept

Fit includes competence for your concerns, a collaborative working style, access needs, cultural understanding, and the opportunity to discuss goals. A first consultation can provide an initial impression, but trust often takes time to develop.

What this might look like

You may prefer a therapist who actively structures sessions, or someone who gives more room for reflection. Neither preference is inherently better; what matters is whether the approach supports your needs.

A question to reflect on

What would you need to know to decide whether to book a first session?
