Healthy Boundaries vs. Emotional Withdrawal

Radiant Connections Therapy · Educational article

Understanding the concept

Boundaries communicate what you can do, what you need, or what you will do to care for yourself. Withdrawal can sometimes protect you, but it may also prevent communication when contact could be safe and constructive.

What this might look like

“I can talk about this tomorrow when I have rested” expresses a boundary more clearly than disappearing without explanation.

A question to reflect on

How can you communicate a limit while preserving clarity and respect?
